Choosing an urn
Every cremation family chooses what will hold their loved one's cremated remains — for good, or until they are scattered or placed at a cemetery. Our cremation urns run from $49 to $2,219, and complete urn price lists are provided at the funeral home upon request, as our General Price List (effective May 11, 2026) puts it. Urns are hard to judge from a photograph, so this page is an overview of the kinds and the prices — come in and hold them in your hands before you decide.
Full-size urns — $49 to $2,219
The main urn, sized to hold all of the cremated remains. Ours come in a range of materials and finishes, from simple and understated to ornate — the right one is the one that feels like the person it holds.
Keepsake urns
Smaller urns that hold a portion of the remains, so more than one family member can keep some close — a daughter in another state, a brother across town. Many families choose a full-size urn and one or two keepsakes together.
Rental cremation urn — $150
A ceremonial urn for a visitation or memorial service, for when the permanent urn has not been chosen yet — or when the remains will be scattered or placed elsewhere afterward and no permanent urn is needed.
Urn vaults — $665 to $2,695
If an urn will be buried at a cemetery, many cemeteries require an urn vault — a protective outer container the urn rests inside. Tell us the cemetery and we will check its rules with you before you choose.
Things worth thinking about
- Where will the urn rest? At home, buried at a cemetery, in a columbarium niche, or scattered later — the answer shapes the choice.
- Does more than one person want to keep a portion? A keepsake urn answers that without anyone having to ask twice.
- Is a service planned first? The rental urn covers the day, and the permanent choice can wait until heads are clearer.
- Will the cemetery require a vault? Ask us — we will find out and fold it into the plan, not surprise you with it.
Questions about a casket?
Ask us anything — materials, sizes, what "gasketed" means, what it costs. We would rather explain it all up front than have a family wonder.
