Smith Funeral Chapel Rate Estimator

This fee will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements selected. It includes staff response, arrangement conference, authorizations and permits, vital statistics, obituary preparation and placement, staff assistance before, during, and after services, and facility overhead including insurance, wages and benefits, maintenance, utilities, administrative costs, equipment, and inventory. This fee is already included in direct cremation, immediate burial, forwarding remains, and receiving remains.

Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary for certain arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. Families usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require embalming.

Includes one or more of the following: dressing the deceased, casketing the deceased, hair styling, and cosmetics as needed.

Additional special care for autopsied remains prior to viewing.

Restoration is charged per hour as needed.

Smith Funeral Chapel requires all un-embalmed bodies to be refrigerated. The initial charge covers the first seven days, which is adequate in most cases.

Additional refrigeration charges may begin after the seventh day if cremation cannot be scheduled due to waiting for proper authorization from the authorized agent.

Includes set-up of visitation area, placement of casketed or cremated remains, display of floral arrangements, and staff to attend visitation from two to four hours prior to the service or the evening before. Additional visitation time is $100 per hour.

There is no charge from the medical school for tissue, organ, or body donation. However, donation teams require funeral home involvement. This charge includes removal of remains, local transportation to the funeral home, sheltering, refrigeration, coordination with the medical school, and filing necessary documents and permits.

Memorial packages range from $200 to $250. Includes register book, up to 100 memorial folders, and 50 thank-you cards.

Thank-you cards are charged per box.
